Q: VPSmini - Opened Public Ports

<h1 id="defaultopenedpublicports">Default Opened Public Ports</h1> VPSmini ports are all blocked. The only exceptions are: <ul> <li>80</li> <li>443 (SSL)</li> <li>8080</li> <li>8443 (SSL)</li> <li>3000</li> <li>Another random port used for your VPSmini SSH</li> </ul> VPSmini is built for web applications. You can install any application on it, though they will only be reachable from the server itself. We cannot open any other port for your VPSmini, even on request. To expose other types of applications, you can try using tools like <a href="https://www.cloudflare.com/products/tunnel/">Cloudflare Tunnel</a> or <a href="https://ngrok.com/">ngrok</a> with the available public ports. || VPSmini is behind a proxy and we manage certificates with Let's Encrypt for you, including automatic renewals. To generate your certificate, simply provide your domain in the Overview section of your VPSmini management panel.

In order to add a service on boot, we are using our own CLI tool called servicectl.

It is as easy to use as this:

sudo servicectl -e <service_name>

(Make sure the service is already running first with service <service_name> start)

So for mariadb, it would be:

sudo servicectl -e mariadb

To get more information on how to use servicectl, you can always display the full help:

sudo servicectl -h
Usage:

      --enable, -e [service]         Enable a service
      --disable, -d [service]        Disable a service
      --start, -s                    Start all enabled services
      --list, -l                     List all enabled services
      --help, -h                     Display this help message

Procedure to connect as root on a KPS container

With our KPS, the best way to connect into a container is to deploy a Portainer on the KPS instance.

Create a portainer container

Go into the app store
Search for Portainer
Deploy the Portainer service

Configure Portainer container

Enable Websocket support in HTTP Settings of the application configuration
Save & Restart the app
Wait 60 seconds for the service to restart
Enable HTTPS and add your custom domain in HTTP Settings of the application configuration

Connect to Portainer and ssh into a container

Go to you portainer web server url
Create your admin credentials for portainer
Go to Home and Click on Live connect on local
In the left menu, navigate to containers
Use the shell quick action to connect to the container of your choice
Use the correct Command ans User, try first with /bin/bash and if it is not working try /bin/sh. Use the user of your choice, if you require privileged in the container use root
